Santa Barbara

Tucked between the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens in Valletta is one of the city’s most beautiful and character-filled corners. This spot has seen plenty of change over the years, each era leaving its own imprint—from Valletta’s earliest days to the Colonial period and the post-war rebuild. The result is a layered mix of architecture that tells its own story.

Today, the area has a vibrant feel, with cafés, boutique hotels, and one of Malta’s best-known jazz bars adding to its charm.

But just around the corner from all the buzz, there’s a quieter stretch that offers a breath of fresh air: the Santa Barbara Bastions. With sweeping views of the Grand Harbour and a row of stunning noble homes lining the street, it’s the kind of place that speaks for itself—best experienced in person.
